What substrate to use?

Postby Grinch123 » Sun Jun 22, 2014 4:24 pm

Again, due to being misold I now have a number of fish that I feel don't like my substrate. I am using gravel, not the extra small one but not the largest one either.

I have angels, clown loach, dollars and Cory's. Is this ok or do I NEED to change to sand?

Also, parrot, eels, elephant nose and black ghostknifes - are they suitable with my substrate/current tank mates.

Thanks in advice

You would be better with sand if you have cory's as the gravel can damage their barbels.
Elephant nose can be really picky eaters and most die of starvation. Black ghosts can be hit or miss with aggression. It really depends on the size of your tank though.
Parrotfish are not a natural fish they are a hybrid which deforms the fish so I do tend to say to avoid them, some are so badly deformed they cant eat properly.
