Plants and Oxygenation

Postby Mashup » Sun May 26, 2013 7:50 pm

Hi All. :bye:

I am currently running two tanks: one 125l and one 150l.

The 150l is currently home to several botia and a couple of plecos. I have a large piece of bogwood with java fern attached on a smooth gravel substrate. The filter's spray bar gives some surface agitation, but I want to ensure that oxygen levels are good. Which plants would you recommend to achieve this, bearing in mind botias' boisterous behaviour?

Duckweed will grow fast, but may take over your tank. Elodea is also a fast grower that produces lot's of oxygen (it is used in science experiments about photosynthesis). Just so you know, your 150l is overstocked with both the botia and plecos.
