Pregnant shrimp

Postby TheATEAM » Mon Apr 15, 2013 8:14 pm

Hi my shrimp is pregnant. bought it like it so I have no idea what im doing.
Ive got it in a tank with platies and one other shrimp.
a filter is in place.

I put it into a breeding tank that just clips onto the side of the tank.
the only place I can put it is near the front, so when I have my light on its directly onto the shrimp.
is this going to hurt it or am I okay to have my light on?

thanks

What do you mean by 'pregnant', is the shrimp carrying eggs underneath it?

What kind of shrimp do you have?
I would release it from the trap as they never do well in those and the shrimplets are that tiny they would escape out of there.
If its a cherry shrimp for example you are better to just a plants to the main tank that the shrimplets can hide amongst. Amano shrimp fry need marine conditions soon after being released from their freshwater mother in order to survive and very rarely ever come on.
