RO/DI Unit

Postby Nec » Wed Apr 22, 2009 4:14 pm

On the way back home from vacation, my wife asks me what I want for my birthday. I tell her, "Nothing". She then asked me how much RO units cost. :wtf: I was like, "Really?"

I have been saying for a while that I was tired of buying water. So I looked around and found a decent one with great reviews at a good price.

I can add the pressure guage, float valve and auto shutoff that the Extreme version has built into it and still come out under the price for the extreme. And they come with a free TDS meter.

What do you guys think?

Looks good, similar to mine. The flush valve saves a lot on the pre-filters, I flush mine 2 mins every day and the pre-filters are definately lasting longer.

At first, I thought that 5 stages might be overkill but the price is right and the extra stage couldnt hurt.

She told me I wasnt allowed to order it till around my birthday which is at the end of next month so she pretty much teased me. lol I'm sure I could talk her into ordering it by this weekend.

Hey.....don't make me stomp my feet and throw a hissy fit. hehehe

I'm excited about getting the unit because I spend so much on store water. I especially like the DI bypass fo drinking water too.

I love the taste of RO water but can't persuade the wife to try it.

I have some room in my outdoor shed and I was pondering the idea of mounting my RO/DI unit in there and using a garden hose to supply the water. My plan is to have one 35 gallon bin full of my made up saltwater and another 35 gallon with RO/DI water for top-offs. I'm also installing a float valve with auto shut-off in the RO/DI bin to prevent overflow. But if at any chance, that was bypassed, at least the flood would be in the shed and not the house. Later on, i might mount it onto a mobile frame to where the unit can be carried anywhere so I can bring it in the house for winter.

Bad idea?
